Best Rifle Scope Accessories

What are some accessories you have decided to use on your hunting scopes? Are there any you have tried and decided against, for weight or bulk?

Leupold Alumina caps - by far the best out there, I wish other companies would catch on.

will try a sunshade this year, had the sun in our eyes bombing our whitetails across the valley this year, could have waited till the sun finished cresting the horizon but they were going to move through and we may have lost opportunity, still got it done but it was tough to find them in that condition, no verdict yet on whether sunshade will stay on, will need to play with it next season, it's been a rare situation so far, the 40mm vortex 4" shade fits on our Trijicon 3-9x40 accupoints and adds 1.5 oz, we run butler creek flips on objective end only, about .5 oz

my wind data points are minimal so they always live on the scope somewhere, currently a small decal on scope tube beside turret block

alumina flip caps for leupolds are awesome, ran them when I ran leupold

Flip caps of some sort and a throw lever are essential to me. To the point that if a 3d printed throw lever is all that is available I may not even consider the scope.

good one Chris, reminds me and I forgot to mention, i'm currently waiting for some mkm machine throw levers for my trijicons, I'm sure they won't be the quality of the Trijicon but can't seem to find them up here in communist canada, I'm guessing they will become something I'd rather not live without either

Which Trijicons? The Credo's and Tenmile's have integrated throw levers/knobs.

ya I run the 3-9x40 accupoint currently, I see manufacturers catching on and making them standard, heck even the Leupold vx3hd line up has em, if Trijicon updates that scope with an exposed locking dial up turret and a throw nubbin I'm gonna be happy but my wallet gonna be seriously pissed off

Yes! I really like my Leica PRS scopes, but the caps that come with them are utter garbage.

well those mk machine throw levers showed up for the Trijicon, will give em a run on the bear hunt at end of month here but dang they are bulky and taller than I could envision, they sure make the throw feel like butter and you can't miss it in a hurry lol, I'll see if my Trijicon dealer will order up the factory one so I can compare

I am big fan of bubble levels even on my hunting setup. I run nightforce ultralight rings that have a bubble level on them. There is a company called Flatline ops that make some good ones as well. Also I cant believe I went so long without having a scope that had a throw lever.

Bubble level is a necessity. Pick your poison on accuracy first, MK machining or flatline ops. I don’t like the ring cap type as I have to break my cheekweld/sight picture to see them. The offset style mounted forward of my parallax visible with left eye while I’m on target are money for me. Nobody realizes how perceptible to canting a rifle they are until you give them an indicaticator. I could put any hunter in a shooting situation where they are inclined to cant a rifle. Do yourself a favor and hang a plum bob for correct mounting

Personally I like the scope sleeves. I also think getting rings with a built in bubble or adding a bubble is pretty important.
