Been finally giving my old rem 700 some love as of late and looking to put a new trigger in it. I know there are a few good choices out there curious as to what people has seen as pros and cons with different triggers.

Thinking about
Timney
Jewell
Trigger Tech

Other good options that stand out?

For the money a trigger tech is hard to beat.

Timney 510 or 512. Can't go wrong. Much more sealed unit with less parts than a Jewell, break super clean, and a great company. I just swapped 12 Jewell's out for new Timneys for all those reasons. Jewell Triggers are great but for a field gun, I don't think they're the best option.

any decent smith can make your remy trigger a super trigger. i have used this fellow a couple times and highly recommend him. i have 2 set at 14 oz for varmint hunting and they are great. i also have half a dozen jewels and a shilen or two. jewels are Cadillacs but in a hunting rifle not needed, and they can require maintenance on occasion.- i carry a spare jewell in my cleaning box ready to pop in, this lets me clean the trigger when i get home.

Timney for the reasons stated above. I have one set for 2 lbs and it breaks very crisp exactly at 2 lbs every time as per my trigger pull scale.

Jewell trigger are as smooth as a Swiss watch but not the most reliable when you put them out in the tough elements - you can trust me on this one.

Appreciate the advice guys. Been looking at trigger tech but tricky to get my hands on one. I've heard a lot about Jewell triggers having issues with moisture and cold so that turns me off pretty quickly. Sounds like Timney might be the way if i replace it.

Any idea what the typical lead time is for him? not against the idea of working on the current trigger to clean it up just don't want to be missing my rifle for too long. I'll check him out thanks!

I use a Jewell and a Timney Calvin Elite. The Jewell needs to be kept clean and the Timney has the tiniest amount of creep. Both good but if I had to choose the best for me I would go Huber Concepts

Jewell. Only maintenance needed so far has been to blow out the dust and grit, and apply some Zippo Lighter fluid to lube it. Well and I needed to adjust the sear a bit after what I assume to be a breakin period.

Brownells has trigger techs in stock. I am pleased with it. Waited the month lead time from trigger tech. Have it set at a crisp, no creep 2 pounds.

The Jewell will f$$$ you if you shoot much. It's just a matter of time. I don't care how much you clean it.

I'm replacing all of my 700s with Trigger Techs.

i love my jewels but Ryan is not jerking your chain about failing. if you shoot enough or get in windy sandy dusty conditions it will get you in a bind. i only use them on a target range or a bench shooting varmints and even then i always carry a spare to drop in. i have loaned the spare out several times at matches, too.

i have got real quick at taking the jewel apart to clean it when it gets grit in it. i take them apart and clean them yearly -even if there is no trouble. when cleaning one that has quit working i have never found the dirt that caused the trouble- even after wiping each part down with a clean patch.

once there is dirt in it you can pour a gallon of lighter fluid through and not get it out. BTDT many times.

Well I guess triggertech it is, I was just searching on a whim for a timney and looking for reviews. Looks like according to there YouTube vids, Canadian Forces snipers using PGW are/or will be using triggertech . Bonus, I can walk in my local Canadian gun store and get a triggertech! Thanks all.
