Best Pant for Busting Brush

I'm looking for a pant that is excellent at pick resistance. I have 2 pairs of Kuiu Attack Pants and they are great, but they dont do so well in thick Arizona Brush. I like the deign of the Kuiu Pants but dont know how well the other models preform. Who has experience with the Firstite and Sitka pants? Thanks!

Check out Fjallraven pants like the Keb or Vidda Pro. Not camo but rugged and made for the outdoors.

Or just go with a Carhart upland/brush pant.

I have been wearing my Marmot (Arch Rock I believe) pants turkey hunting and been breaking they some thick stuff up and down the mountain. Haven’t had any issues yet. I love them. Bought them for hiking but they work well for hunting also.

Just proves to me that one doesn’t need a high dollar (somewhat overpriced) pant from the big name hunting brands like First Lite, Kuiu etc unless you just want something thicker with some knee pads maybe and camo.

You could get away with some REI and Kuhl pants as well.

I second Fjallraven. Lightweight but durable. They’re on the pricey side but well worth it. Also comes in different inseam lengths. I recommend the pants that are made with waxed cotton canvas. Those things are tough. I’ve put them through the ringer many times, still standing.

I'm not sure about the higher-end lines, but I used these wrangler progear pants for years for busting brush with great results. The jean material finally wore out but the lower halves were still working great!

I really like the Kuiu Talus Hybrid pants. They have done well for me the last two seasons. They are reinforced with heavier waterproof material from the knees down and in the seat. The rest of the pants are similar material to the Attack Pant. They are a little warmer than the Attack pant.

I've got three pairs of canopy pants from these guys. They're incredibly tough and comfortable but very thin. I've only torn one pair after it got thin from usage. I would get the ascender if I were looking for more brush resistance.

I have had the same issue. Multiflora rose is a big issue where I use mine and it’s tough on attack pants. I recently ran the SG De Havilland pants in some nasty multiflora rose thickets and they came out without a pull. I was super impressed!

Agreed, I just got some canopy pants a few weeks ago and like them a lot, I have one pair of ascenders that are comfortable and durable except I don't care for the zippered front pockets. I just did some tree work, limbing and tipping some white pines for falling in tight spaces, the pitch washed right off. I have some tech pants that are about ten years old now that are starting to get a bit worn (and snug around the waist) but are still in serviceable shape - they're very durable but I prefer the stretch fabric used in the canopy and ascender pants for comfort.

Sitka's Hanger Pant works great for busting brush in hot weather. The Timberline Pant is a great option for cooler temperatures. Both of these pants feature Cordura reinforcement on the high-wear areas which aids in durability.

For me it’s been my Kryptek Alaios, but mine are the older style. I switched to sitka this summer and got the mountain pant and timberline. Both of these have big shoes to fill trying to do what the Alaios pant did for me. I wore them all season and only that one pair lasted me 5 yrs with a couple stitch jobs but they are amazing pants and still have them. The Sitka SA mountain pant will be my early bow season pant. Then I got a set of SA timberline for end of bow and beginning of rifle before snow is on the ground. I bought another pair of timberline in OC rifle when I the snow is on the ground. I prefer that coloration for snow. The thinking was while I can afford it I’ll get these different pants and they should last me a very long time. Unnecessary I know but an investment so I can invest in other areas of my gear in the following years without having to buy clothing. At any rate I have high expectations for this gear as my old stuff was remarkable.

Sitka Timberline, Kuiu Katana, Fjallraven, and Khul pants have been great for busting through brush. Timberline, and certain models of the Khul and Fjallraven are defiantly for colder weather.
