I remember you and your elk very well Anthony. After talking with Bruce and the guides it sounded like you were likely the best prepared for the hunt that whole season and ended up with one of the best results. I believe there is a direct correlation there. I believe it was you and Manny that fixed my stove that wouldn't go over 250 degrees too. It was a pleasure cooking for and hanging out with you guys. Manny was they fella that fixed the stove. I just happened to have a few tools to do it. One thing I will say is folks won’t lose weight hunting with you all. Food was fantastic and plenty of it. Thanks for they great time.

I hunted with Bruce this September in the wilderness pack in camp. Everyone - the cook, the wranglers and Bruce himself worked hard to provide a great experience for the hunters. The logistics involved to get everything to camp is proof enough they know what they’re doing. If you want the Ritz Carlton & easy hunting this ain’t it. You’ll probably spend several hours on livestock each day, much of which is in the pitch dark. We walked & rode next to rock cliffs, through thick blow down areas, river crossings and you’re probably gonna have a few grizzly bear encounters. It’s rugged & beautiful country with plenty of ways to get hurt so you better be in shape & have your shit together. The guides worked their butts off to get us an opportunity to take a good mature bull & that’s all you can ask for. It was an awesome adventure & if I ever draw that tag again I’ll definitely go with Best of the West.

I hunted with Best of the West for elk in 2018. Fantastic time and highly recommend them. Had 6 hunters in camp and 5 elk down and the 6th person had several chances. Bruce runs a good outfit.

I will say that the guides don’t go easy on you in the sense that they will push your horsemanship skills and put in long days to get you in position for a kill. Loved that about them. We were hunting west of Big Piney.

From what I hear sounds like Sams onto something, on 10/15/22 good old worse of the west blocked a bridge and or roadway then proceeded to call some Hispanics "beaners" as they rode by. Just another shit stain outfitter that feels like they own public land. Maybe Mr. Integrity (Bruce) could comment on this behavior. Id rather give money to Biden than these jackasses. Not saying all outfitters are bad but the the hell with this outfit.

Not to beat an old horse, but I am SO GLAD I came across this thread, even if it is a bit dated....

I volunteer with putting on the RMEF Tulsa Chapter's annual fundraising banquet. Recently, Bruce, with Best of the West Outfitters, contacted us wanting to attend and (fully) donate a bull elk hunt for our event. Having not previously dealt with him or Best of the West Outfitters, I began my due diligence in researching their track record.

Normally, I go straight to the Bugle magazine and see if they're listed in the outfitters section and review their RMEF rating. Being that Bugle has stopped providing that information in an effort to save printing costs, I resorted to looking at online reviews. I do this knowing full well the information found online has to be taken with a grain of salt due to whatever agenda people might have.

What review do I first come across? None other than one (and the only one for Best of the West Outfitters) on Yelp dated Nov 16, 2021 and posted by the same Samantha Strable (a.k.a. Sam Strab) mentioned earlier in this thread. Being a highly negative review, the first thing that came to mind was, "Wow!" But, knowing there must be more to the story, I looked for other reviews. And, that's when I came across this thread and, as Paul Harvey used to say, "The rest of the story...."

Thank you to the Rokslide community members who chimed in with their first-hand, been there - done that, experiences of hunting with Best of the West Outfitters (all of which are HIGHLY POSITIVE with the exception of the one posted by GJC435 in post #27 that doesn't elaborate on the encounter), and for calling out Sam Strab for what looks to be her unfounded, vindictive assault on Bruce's outfitters. In particular, I thought "tdhanses" in his post #7 of this string, did a masterful job of picking apart Sam Strab's commentary/review and shedding light on the vendetta she obviously has.

Though I'm still a FNG, not having yet crossed the messaging threshold to be reclassified, I look at Rokslide as a sort of Consumer's Reports for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. I appreciate the community members providing their largely unbiased opinions, experiences, reviews, assistance, and thoughts. And, I also appreciate the way the community polices itself and holds those making posts accountable.

Long story short, we accepted Bruce's generous donation offer after speaking directly to a representative at RMEF HQ who also had positive information and experience with Bruce and his outfitters. During our banquet, I was able to spend some one-on-one time with Bruce and I came away knowing he's the kind of guy I'd gladly like to hunt and spend time in camp with. So, thank you Bruce, for supporting our banquet and the RMEF. And thank you to the Rokslide members who saw to it to set the record straight.

I got mine at the KC RMEF banquet, they have donated a hunt fully each year since I got mine, I used to be the chapter chair way back in the day for the KC chapter.

Whoever won that hunt is in for an amazing hunt, just let them know to go prepared and in shape.

I'm hopeful our Chapter will be able to maintain a relationship with Bruce and Best of the West Outfitters, too. His donation was a very welcomed addition to this year's banquet.

I got mine at the KC RMEF banquet, they have donated a hunt fully each year since I got mine, I used to be the chapter chair way back in the day for the KC chapter.

Whoever won that hunt is in for an amazing hunt, just let them know to go prepared and in shape.

I was surprised there wasn't an elk hunt dontated to the KC RMEF auction this year and it was a Mt. Lion hunt donated from BoW.

Bruce actually gave us a hunter's choice of either a bull elk, cow elk, or mountain lion hunt. Our auction winner chose the bull elk hunt.

Bruce was very easy to work with and very accommodating in explaining everything from how the WY tag system works and the typical timelines to draw, to what to expect regarding the class of animals to encounter, and more.

I'm excited to get feedback from our auction winner on how his hunt goes.

Yeah Bruce has always given them the option for any hunt, guess they decided to change it up, this was the first year I haven’t been to the banquet in over a decade.
