Best Mid size pack for my 24 inch RG frame-22 Mag or other?

I have a Kifaru 24 inch ranger green frame and was about to get a 22 Mag given the sales price. I already have small to medium packs (not external frames). I also have a DT 3 bag.

My thoughts were to get a bag capable of 3-5 day trips and meat hauling capabilities and I really only want 1 more bag. I assume there are better choices than the 22 Mag but I'm not sure. I don't really see needing the super big bags.

I'm thinking a Nomad 2 or Woodsman. Would the 22 Mag work or am I better off with a different Kifaru bag? I also thought I might add a cargo net or cargo panel-would this make the 22 Mag versatile enough?

Thanks

I personally couldn’t pack 3-5 days worth of gear with the 22 mag and have it all in the bag and side pockets. Still trying to keep the amount of fabric smaller I would go the woodsman route and whatever pockets/lid you wanted.

Thanks Jordan. I would use the bag in a mild climate primarily and the game would be deer sized mostly which is why I thought I might get by with a bit smaller bag. That said I do not want to have tons of pouches and pockets hanging off the pack either. I certainly don't mind using a couple of pouches and perhaps a Grab-it or Cargo net to help add capacity though.

I appreciate your feedback!

I personally didn't find that the 22 Mag ran on my 24" frame how I wanted it to (didn't really line up with the common loops on the side of the frame well, and attaching it at the bottom was a bit sloppy). On a 22" frame, it's wonderful.

However, like Jordan, there's no way I'd fit 5 days, let alone 3 in the 22 Mag. For me, it works great as a day pack, especially if I need a warm layer and some rain gear.

Apart from the Woodsman, what about the Mountain Warrior? With all the new packs that have come since, I get the sense that it's a bit overlooked these days - but if that kind of opening style works for you, it's a great option for not having to hang extra pockets off the outside. Also plenty big enough for what you need, and can cinch down for smaller loads but handle bigger ones.

I really like my woodsmen. With the extra space under the pack on a 24" frame and a lid and/or some pouches, you could probably get 3 days out of it. It also has a meat shelf, so you could stuff a camp bag in between the pack and frame if you really needed the extra space.

Well, of the bags you have said, I'd go the Woodsmen route. With a guide lid and a couple spotter pockets, you are more cubic inches than the Warrior. Except you also have a meat shelf. However, if I could choose, I'd get a Mountain Rambler over the Woodsmen.

I have yet to take the Rambler on a 5 day pack in but, I trained for weeks with my full kit, including bow in that pack. Everything I would be taking except food. I supplemented that with a 20 liter stuff sack filled with goods out of the pantry. I got it to a touch over 10 pounds and, then stuffed it full of bed sheets to capacity to replicate space and weight best I could. I still had lots of room left since I pod my bag n the space left below the bag and bottom of the frame. Plus, it's got a meat shelf for when you get the goods. For the life of me, I simply cannot understand why more people don't use this bag for day huts up though a 7 day hunt bag. God Bless

Take a look at the Mountain Warrior especially if you like the 22 mag, this bag compresses small and really would be perfect for what your asking.
