Best Long Range Hunting Caliber for Short Action??

He likes the 7mm projectiles better than 6.5 is the main thing. He had other reasonings but i don't recall all his reasons.

He killed 2 mule deer and 3 white tail out west with the 6.5 SAUM all at over 500 yards. So he must really like it but wants the 7 instead
What’s it built on? Does he want to trade😂

My buddies Asia buffalo
6.8W 130yds factory 162gr copper heart shot DRT, guide sad this was the first one dropped with one shot.

No personal experience on elk but for deer the 6.5 PRC hammers.
I love the soft recoil. My kids shoot mine no problem.

7 SAUM

I run mine with 168 VLDs. Recoil is mild, bucks the wind well, delivers some payload at distance. Ive laid down all my elk and deer with that caliber. I use it as a preference over my 300 PRC.

For what it’s worth, I shot my first NRL hunter match with the SAUM earlier this year. I liked playing the game so I order a 6.5 creed barrel. Right now I use my HNT chassis and origin action with 2 different barrels (7 SAUM / 6.5 creed) and 2 different scopes (Nightforce for hunting / MK5 for NRL).

How well did that origin fit in the hunt 26?
