Is? Looking to top a few youth rifles with 2-7s or 3-9s, or in that range. Looking at Leupold, Burris, Redfields. Looking to spend no more than $200 a piece.

Thanks friends!

You can’t go wrong with a Leupold rifleman 3-9 x40. I had that scope on a few different light weight rigs over the years. Great glass for the price and nice and light weight.

I think I have a 2-7 Leupold matte black that’s like new at the house, I’ll check when I get home. Used it for my wife’s old rifle

I have yet to be begin to procrastinate.

Thanks! How do the 2-7s and in that class do at up to 300 yards? I've only ever used 3-9 or higher.

Kinda depends on how good your eyes are. I'm not crazy about the standard Leupy reticle at 7x for 300 yard shots (My rifle range is 300 yards, so I do shoot that distance quite often) but it's doable. 4 MOA from the crosshair to the top of the lower post isn't really that useful. 5 or 6 would be better. But like I said, it's doable.

I shoot 300 with my fixed K6 Weaver all the time. That's a very clear and sharp scope with a very useful reticle, so I don't think anything of it.

Agree on the Weaver classic recommendation. Some of their stuff that's made in China is not so great, but the V series (like my K6 I mentioned above) are made in Japan and are really a great value.

Just picked up a new 3-9x40 Rifleman with the wide duplex reticle for my Howa. Friction windage and elevation adjustments that you use a coin to turn - the old fashioned way.

I love it. The adjustments were spot-on at the range yesterday and I had it dialed in with just 3 shots. Very bright and sharp and the 16 moa wide duplex reticle - for my purposes - is much more useful than the standard 8 moa Leupold duplex. Now I can set the tip of the lower post to 400 yards and shoot point blank out to 225 with simple holdovers for 300 and 400. Couldn't do that with the standard plex.
