"Stalkers in the Backcountry" It's awesome! So refreshing to see genuine, legit, real hunting footage. Well worth the watch! No ridiculous product pushes, no high fences, no guides. Done the hard way and some really impressive footage. My heart was thumping watching him close into stickbow range. Some cool stuff at the end too showing South Cox building a bow step by step. Really interesting and makes you appreciate the craft. Check it out. I'm glad I did and I can't remember the last time I said that after watching a hunting show or DVD.

Does it have a bunch of loud thumping music in it? I turn those videos off pretty quickly. I especially hate the ones that have the music and then it goes softer when the hunters are saying something........and you still can't hear what they're saying because of the music. I might be odd.......but when I'm watching a video, etc........I'm there experiencing what they're experiencing. And I've never blared loud music on a stalk in my life.

South is a very good guy. We went to visit him at his shop to get my son one of his bows a couple months back. South spent some time with my son, shooting some different bows and draw weights and gave him some tips. He also took us on a tour on how he makes his bows and the process. It takes a bit of a wait to get one of his bows made up but he does some awesome work. His bows are a work of art. The bow hit the mail now and my son is waiting like a kid waiting for Christmas and Santa to come.

I have seen from some of his posts South is getting more and more into filming. Where did you see the video at? Did you see it at the film tour? On South’s site it shows preorder still on the DVD.

Thankfully no, no obnoxious music.

I am looking forward to seeing this video. I have heard awesome reviews and bet it is a quality film.

I watched one of the filmed hunts take place in Nevada. I was sitting under a tree in the middle of the day waiting for the action to pick up and some guy came sneaking down the hill behind us. We were quite a ways back in the hills at 10K feet and I thought to myself "What is this guy doing, there is a whole range to hunt"

Well it was South and he had spotted some bedded bucks below us that we could not see. He started whispering and I thought "Holy Crap" this guy is South Cox. He was extremely polite, explained that his wife was filming from the other ridge, and asked if we were sitting on the bucks, and if not, if we had any problems with him going after them.

We got a front row seat through our spotters of the stalk and the result. After it was done, he came back up and we chatted for a bit. Super nice guy and there isnt a better way to meet a guy than under those circumstances.

Got the DVD and watched it. It says it well in the title, "Stalkers in the Backcountry". Some awesome deer stalking footage and his commentary on high country mule deer hunting with a recurve bow. I was very impressed on what goes into making one of his bows at the end of the DVD. I was there at his shop on a quick tour a couple months back but the DVD goes into detail on what kind of workmanship goes into the bow. I really had no idea on what kind of work goes into one of his bows. I can appreciate the craftsmanship of his bows all the more now.

Oh on a side note, my son has his bow now and he is really enjoying it and shooting it. I hope he will enjoy it for many more years to come.

I met South before one of his hunts in Nevada with Cam. We were both shopping at REI for last minute stuff. I told him where I was headed in the Coast range and he drew me a map for spots to check out.

He ended up measuring my first bowkilled buck too. He is good people.
