Looking at getting a new fixed blade knife. And I’m not buying a Mora. What do you guys recommend? Looking to spend up to 200 dollars. Want something light but tough. Not too picky on blade shape or handle material.

Buck 102 Woodsman is a nice knife. I have a 119 fixed blade and a 110 folding knife. Good knife at a fair price. 4" blade.

Buck 117 Brahma knife 4 1/2" blade

Buck 192 Vanguard 4 1/4" blade. I like Buck and these are all decent knives in your price range.

Helle.

My helle knives have cut up everything from trout and rabbits to ducks and turkey to antelope and elk. Several thousand pounds of meat in the last 15 years.

One has a very large and tall blade in 12c27. It sharpens effortlessly to an edge that easily shaves rolling papers. It is a silent pop on the hanging hair test.

The other is a more reasonable 4" blade with 1" from spine to edge. The point is fine enough to carve wood chains with while im hunting. It is 13c26 with a very hard core laminated inside. Due to the hard core it takes more effort than the other knife to sharpen. It will shave rolling papers as well, how ever i can only get it to the noisy split on the hanging hair test.

Both have beautiful wood handles that are not cold on my hands when its 40 below.

Why Not a mora?
Curious.
They have a new flat grind out if it’s the scandi that bothers you.
I have all kinds of knives and a kansbol is hard to beat for the price.
