Best elk bullet selection

I should note that impact velocities were between 1,700-1,780 fps on all 3. Accuracy was very good and despite the fact I will likely not use them on elk again I do believe they would be sufficient for deer.

Great info! They worked once for me but consensus sounds like they maybe to soft

Similar experience for me on a mule deer. Shot at mule deer with the 340 eldx and despite what appeared to be a good shot it took him much longer to expire than I would’ve expected. I’m likely moving to a tougher bullet.

Most of you have way more experience than I do but between my brother and I we have killed several with a 300 XTP mag. That is a tough devastating bullet.

I love my 6.5 PRC and I think the 125 gr HHT will perform great on elk ,but I would probably screw a 300 WSM barrel in my CURTIS AXIOM ACTION switch lug shooting 154 gr HAMMERS and go elk hunting . I set this rifle up for such of an occasion .6.5 PRC -300 WSM, I might even add a 35 WSM barrel.

And which powder(s) for the 6.5 and 300 @Chris A. Never heard of a guy running a 6.5 muzzy but several guys I know shoot .30s.
