As the title states, I’m looking for the best action for less than $1,100. I can go over, but I’d really prefer to stick around that budget so I can spend elsewhere.
Stipulations:
- left hand
- open top so I can top feed

Thanks in advance

Do you have a specific weight range you want to stay in? Thats gunna be a big factor in cost

The Kelby atlas lite seems like a great option for a hunting rifle. When I eventually build a 7 prc that's probably what I'll go with. There's a few companies that will cut pre fits for them as well.

Do they make em in lefty? Could be a winner if so.
Don’t really need the availability for a prefit at the moment. I have a proof medium sporter blank coming in the mail and I’m gonna be building some kind of 7mm with it.

Pierce makes a nice stainless action with an M16 extractor in your price range that is available in left hand. I have a Pierce titanium action that I really like.

Didn’t know that one was available in lefty. Thanks for mentioning it

Bighorn Origin. Port is big enough to top load. Available in LH. Your choice of bolt face. Small, medium, and long action.
I’ll have to call about their lead times. I had it off my list because I thought the port was too small

Origin or Pierce. The latter I don't believe has prefits available. Really hard to go wrong with an origin, I have 3 along with multiple defiance and for $900 it's a steal.

My buddy ordered a Pierce back around December and hasn't received it yet.

How long did it typically take you to get your origins?

Can’t top load otherwise I’d be all over them
You could probably have the top of the loading port milled off and still be ahead of most custom R700 clones. I would generally recommend not doing that though. Part of the reason Tikkas are so reliable is the lack of ingress for sand, dirt and debris. And I single load my Tikkas all the time without spending all that extra money to mess up a good thing. I think top loaders are highly overrated. But you gotta do you.

I like BDLs and ADLs for my hunting rifles. I sold a full custom tikka I built because I got tired of the magazine. I much prefer a floorplate. Just my preference.

I believe they do, but it'll probably be harder to find.
