I swore off moultrie after the debacle with the launch of the delta camera. But people seem to have good luck with the new edge cameras, and I got the edge 2 for less than $50 per camera on sale. We'll see how they do.
definitely let us know how the Edge's work for you compared to your other cams. Been very happy with mine (Moultrie is a Rokslide advertiser) but I never used anything of theirs prior to Edge release.

Only real glitch I've noticed is battery meter in not accurate with lithium--it will show 100% to the day they die. The alkaine report accurately.

Have had great connectivity going on 3 seasons. Better than my Stealth cam that were single service provider.

I've always used Covert cameras for years, they have went to shit after being bought out by feradyne. Been using the new stealth cam deceptor max this past season with good results.

I run most of my cameras on my place in NW Oklahoma 500 miles away from where I live in eastern Texas, so I can’t just run out and fix an issue or reset something after work.
I’ve been using Spartans since 2008ish with 2g service, and those cameras were great (still using two of them as cameras). The 3g cameras were total garbage, but I stayed with them and took chance on 4g. When my 4 crap out (had 5) which from recent experience probably won’t be long, I’ll never buy another one.
I’m up to three Tactacams (2.0) now, and after over a year, I’m happy so far.

Also, I can set up a Tactacam 2.0 with a rechargeable lithium battery cartridge and Tactacam solar panel for less than just the Spartan Go Cam camera.

That's how lithium batteries work. All trail cams report 100, or near 100, until they die.

This is a great thread and we should keep updating it! I've been using tactacam for the past few seasons. First two seasons, they were great. Last season - they sucked! I am running 6 on our place and 3 out of the 6 just stopped sending pictures out of nowhere. (The cam kept saving pictures on the sd card for at least a month beyond when they stopped sending so I know it wasn't a battery issue. Also, they are in spots where we had ran them the previous season and they sent pics all season) It seems they have the bulk of the market share right now but I'll be trying something different this coming season. Browning cams have always been my favorite but it doesn't sound like their cell cams are any good. Might have to look at the Moultrie edge. Anyone here still use the trail cam pro site for comparing anymore?

Blackgate R4G/Lites. Hands down. No questions.

I’ve used Tactacams for a season. Tried some spypoints, and some Mountie edges. Buddies use all different brands and I think they’re all gonna switch soon.

The best, and I mean the best are Black Gate cell cameras. You buy a certain amount of data-which is however much you need each month split across all your cameras and it’s significantly cheaper than anyone else.
The photo quality is also unmatched.
They have dual lens. Which means you get better quality night pictures.
They just flat out work better, they don’t hardly miss any pictures and they get better reception than any other brand I’ve been around.
Yes you pay a little bit more for the cameras than other brands up front, but I also have saved so much on data that I’m still better off than other brands.y current plan is $24/month and that gives me about 8750 pictures between my 4 cameras.

They’ve done a couple podcasts with working class bowhunter and that’s how I’ve came across them.

Great, thanks for the info. Looks like they're sold out on the website. Any other place to buy them? How's the app interface? Battery life?

any update on Wise eye, performance and batt life? thanks

I have 16 Now, got on the ranch plan they have which is the best deal for pictures and data anywhere. 10$ GB for your whole account all cams are shared, you can adjust your setting for what data you receive vs what’s on your memory card. Only send extra data for the pictures you want.
compared to data from black gate for sample at 50% more, 15$ a mega bite.

Right now my Wise Eye Inventory is at follows.

MC1 x 1 cam
DC1 x 4 cams
MC2 x5 cams
DC2 low glow x 4 cams
DC 2 NO glow x 2 cams

Battery life is very depended on several factors, settings, Location and Battery or power type. Right now i would say across the board the are as good as anything, else out there 8/10 on avg. The two other cams i can think of that have significantly better batt life both miss a lot of pictures with poor detection circuits. If they sent as many picture as wise eyes or reconx they wouldn’t have better battery life. Wise eye has ten best tech support of any company i have used, second by reconx.

For power supplies here is what i am running at various places

Energizer lithium’s
1.5 V rechargeable Lithium, EBT, xTars, and Amp torrents
Battery box’s and batteries from herd 360
Solar panels from herd 360 and also reconx

In addition I have 10 reconx on an account right now,

and one farm with 15 varieties of Tacacams, the Gens3 been junk fyi. I plan on replacing and deleting my tacacam account. Too expensive for the data and very poor detection.

Going forward i plan of doubling my wise eye and reconx holdings

Cams used and discarded, the list gets longer

Brownings
SPypoint
Moltrie
Spartan
Black gate
stealth cam/muddy

Start with the Brownings. They have some upside depending on your use. Battery life and reliability are on par with anything really. They are also pretty cost-effective and you could find them on sale considering that they're so mass produced and distributed. The downside is the picture quality sent to the app is pretty abysmal for the most part. The problem with it is if you're running more than a camera to the data plans are feasible they cost too much and you're paying for too much upfront that you don't use.
Black gate, I had no real problems with the cams at all, except that the interface is a little bit, overly simplistic a lot of scrolling in the set up. That's in the offer 4G light and R4G 4G GEN 2, I have two each currently. The main issue is the data and how you pay for it. You pay a monthly fee for the data at about 15 dollars per megabyte that's at 50% over the cost of wisely and reconnx furthermore, you pay for the data monthly regardless of your allocation use so other words if you only use 75% of your data, you still pay 100% of your monthly allocation. Whereas on a wise plan, you only pay for the data you use at the rate of $10 per megabyte.

If you’re Facebook they have a very active customer service page, I can reach out and see if any of their dealers have any! Herd360 might have some.

App interface isn’t bad. They fix bugs quickly. There’s a few settings I wish they could adjust but I really have no complaints!

I run an external battery that lasts forever. Just put a hole in a $10 plastic ammo box, set this battery in, get a cord with a threaded plug and you’re set for a longgggg time. I’ve never actually had a battery die haha

Thanks for the response. How long have you been running your wise eye? I'm totally fine with paying a little more if they are fairly durable...

Thanks. That's a good idea on the external battery. You charge it back during the off-season then?

I am on my second season, first batch were the MC1 and DC, ran them all year long and they are still out. The DC 2 I start when they came out this year as well as the MC2s. The CS service has been the best I have ever experneced. I have talked a lot to Daren, one of the owners and he is a hoot to talk too. they are clear that they're taking a different approach to this whole industry and marketing themselves as a technical service provider. IT is were its at.
For me reliability and in the field troubleshooting all the most important things living in New York and having property here it's easy to troubleshoot. However, on my two farms in Illinois and Kentucky, I am 15 hours away or a plane ride to fix everything so the main thing for me is IT, customer service and reliability. Both Reconx and Wise eye have stood out in that department. With over 60 cams out right now and 5 different accounts ( companies ) I fell like I have good data set to draw from, for my use and expectations anyway.
