I like fast and flat for my calling rifle. Currently shooting a tikka t3x varmit in 22-250.
With hogs being targeted id definitely go 243, and if your hunting a bait site, maybe 6.5 creed. Coyote fur isn't worth anything, and 6.5 will thump a piggy.

I shoot mostly offhand when night hunting and at less than 150 yards. My Tikka just wasn't a rifle I shot well offhand. The stock design just wasn't right. For both Hogs and coyotes if I had to choose between the 243 and 223 it would be the 243.

Have you tried the cheek riser and vertical grip? Surprisingly effective setup for off hand.
