I picked up a BD Stormline recently that was on sale. I haven’t had a chance to really test it out in heavy rain yet, but the specs on it are pretty good and it’s very packable. I’m heading out on a scouting trip this afternoon with thunderstorms in the area so may get a real test on it finally.

Since you’ve eliminated the Kuiu Yukon, the only other rain gear I would trust is Arc Teryx. It’s bulletproof and light. Although a bit loud.

I have an arc teryx shell that is pushing 20 years old and has seen hundreds of ski days and backpacking trips. It is still my go to rain jacket.

I looked high and low to answer this question. Considered all the non hunting and hunting brands. Arc Teryx is great but nearly all their coats are not cut for layering (ie slim and trim fit). I ended up with a kuiu.

Recently ordered an Eddie Bauer Cloud Cap rain jacket for 60% off, figured it was worth trying out this year for lightweight rain jacket. Pit zips, 9.6oz and green colour.... I was gonna get the Cabela's space rain but that one is 2oz more and double the cost.

As stated, if money is no object and you want the best, Arcteryx Alpha SV hands down. Loud, doesn't compress very small, but as bombproof as you can have. For me an Arcteryx L fits like a KUIU XL. You can get it in their Leaf military color series if you like throwing Benjamins around.

Sitka Cloudburst is nice, used a few times only. I was slightly nauseated after the purchase (~$600/set), but there is a piece of mind of having quality rain gear while in the backcountry

I use Outdoor Research as well. It rolls up small, is lightweight, and very effective in keeping you dry.
