Any suggestions on favorite and reliable AR mounts amongst the group? I am not interested in super cheap, but I am also not fond of $300-$400 to mount a scope to an AR. The optic being mounted will be a 56MM SHV, so I need proper space for the objective. Currently in some cheap-o Vortex rings that will be given away once removed.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Man, prices have sure come up a lot. I was about to recommend Larue, but I haven’t bought anything from them in like 12 years. Swear their stuff used to hang out around $200ish. All $300-$400 now.

I have used Vortex mounts a couple times with no issue on LE duty rifles. Not formally drop tested or anything, but plenty of daily wear and tear kind of stuff, riding in vehicles, etc. no issues on two rifles with 1-6’s over a two year period.

Edit to add:
We have the pro extended cantilever vortex mounts. Noticed you said you had vortex rings, and they make a broad range of stuff, so figured I should specify. These are just over $200, so not super cheap, but half the cost of Larue.

Anyone running a bigger objective on an AR or am I a unicorn? I literally have no other use for the scope, so that's where it is going. I would assume the standard 1.54" mount height would work?

I looked at Larue, Badger, and Geissele. Not super excited to drop that much but will if I have to. This will be hunted with next year for anything from elk to antelope depending on tag selection if my 6MM Arc isn't put together by then, and the system will be tested once complete. I do not see a drop test for the 56mm SHV's so I will either do my best rendition or send it in if @Formidilosus or @sndmn11 have they have the time.

One of the better AR scope mounts out there regardless of price are Bobro's, and most of them come in under $300. They're about as bulletproof as you could ask for, and QD. Only criticism is that they're just a bit heavy, but the tradeoff is their great durability and stability.

If you want lighter, don't care about QD, and are willing to spend a bit more, Geissele's Super Precision is a pretty tried-and-true mount.

I see Geiselle’s are on sale as we speak. Well under $300. I might have to snag one.
