Best 50mm spotters?

I'm really considering doing a comparison of the ED50 with the 40x wide eyepiece vs the Kowa 554, I think one of these 2 will be my new small scope.

The ED50 eyepiece at 13-30x doesnt have enough magnification.

I just went ebay route for a nikon ed50 and the 13-40 eyepiece. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint. Tdot i would love to hear a review vs the 554 and see if a thousand dollar difference is noticeable.

Do yourself a favor and keep your eye on the classified section on this website for a nearly new Swaro! You can't go wrong with a Swaro and the 65 HD isn't really that heavy or bulky! You can likely find a nearly new 65 HD for around $1,600 to $2,000. I got a nearly new one for $1750 a couple months ago!
I already have a 65mm Swarovski and It is significantly larger than the 50s I have looked at. The 50 wouldn’t replace my Swarovski, but sometimes I just don’t need or want to pack that much scope.

Have you thought about ditching the spotter and getting a pair of 15s? I know sometimes when I’m goat hunting and I don’t have my spotter (because I refuse to carry it) I find myself needing that little bit of in between optic as well. I don’t take it goat hunting because I can determine sex through binos just fine. And I sure am WAY more effective when I’m glassing using a pair of binos on a tripod than I am using one eye through a spotter.

Just my .02.

I bought the Kowa 554 last year sight unseen based on a lot of reviews - frankly I couldn't find a negative review on this scope. They only real complaint I saw was that it wasn't a 80-90mm Swaro and eye relief was a little critical. I own mostly Swaro but am not stuck on any brand. After a year with this scope I'm going to say that it has impressed me as much if not more than any optic I have ever used. Its niche may be for people on the move and packing light but this scope can do a lot more.
