best 270 bullet for Elk?

I agree, too bad Swift doesn't have an aggressive marketing campaign like others.
Accurate and tough as nails bullet!

Yea but you sure pay a premium for them

If you reload, they are cheaper than accubonds.

The problem for us up here in Canada is that Swift has kind of fallen off the radar, some places are clearing out their bullets with no plans on bringing them back. I don't know what Swift has going on.

On a side note. I shot a few elk and saw a few elk die with the old Remington bronze tips in 130. For those that have shot them in any caliber know how explosive they are but all the elk died. Just goes to show you, shot placement trumps all.

I'd choose whatever your rifle likes. Test a few different bullets. My 270wsm loves 150vld. Dropped a cow last season at 350+.

The heaviest bullet I found in 270 win factory loads is the Double Tap 160 NP. Hits like a hammer, but drops like a rock past 250 yards. FWIW, I'll choose 140-150 gr NPs next time.

I shot my best bull with the 140gr accubond from my 270, it worked great and I had no complaints. I took a couple muleys with it in a 270WSM also. One I was finishing for a hunter who had broke its back leg below the knee shooting at a distance he had no business trying. My bullet entered in the hind quarter and stopped under the hide in the neck. That's darn good penetration and it retained about 60%. It's hard to beat that bullet in 270, it has one of the better BC's unless you get into the heavy VLD type bullets or the LRAB. It has been easy to get to shoot well in the rifles I've tried it in.

Don't over think this. Damn near any 130 or 150 grain bullet out of a 270 will kill an elk. Put the bullet in the right spot...dead elk. I've seen ALOT of elk killed with the Nosler 150 grain Partition. It just flat works. Not the sleekest or sexiest bullet out there. You can get it in factory ammo. The Accubond is no slouch either, also easily available in factory ammo.

I'd start with these two in either 130 grain or 150 grain loadings and see what your rifle likes. If neither is shooting well, grab some factory ammo with the Barnes TTSX bullet. In my experience those usually shoot very well and are equally deadly on elk.

They are pricey, but when you think about it, the bullet is the cheapest part of the hunt, BUT the most important.
$3000 for Swaro Rangefinding Binos, $2500 for a rifle with a Swaro scope, and a $6000 Elk hunt. I will pay top $$$ for what I consider the best bullet for the job, Swift A-Frame. Cheapest part of the hunt.

Yep I agree use them myself just be prepared to pay almost double of accubonds.

I have found that the Hornady 225 SP shoots the same as the A-Frames out of my rifle. They are half the price, and I use them for range work. I just confirm my zero and hunt with the A-Frames.

"If I were picking a bullet to hunt elk with right now for a 270, it would be a Swift Scirocco in 130. It's what an Accubond wishes it could be!" "I'll be using my Kimber Montana with a 150 Partition. Can't imagine a better elk bullet in the 270."

If the Partition is good, than the Swift A-frame can only be better. The design is similar and bullet benefits from a bonded front and core. (should retain its weight better) The 130 Gr. Swift Scirocco would also be at the top of my list too. Which ever my rifle liked the best of these two would be my choice. Good luck
