Curious about using my 22 mag for predators. I live in the east so shot distances are normally not much past 150. I know its a little light for coyotes but just looking for what ammo anybody has had success with.
I know a rancher who runs cattle on 7500 acres out here in the West. He insists on using Hornady 30 grain V-Max for his Volquartsen truck gun and gets it done.
If you want to recover the coyotes, use whatever is the most accurate in your gun and shoot them in the head. If you are just wanting the coyote to be gone, you can shoot them in the ribs.
I run the Speer Gold Dot out of my 22WMR with great results. I know technically they are a personal defense round but the gold dot gets the job done within 125 yards

I use cci 40 grain hollow points with excellent results.
I use a 22 mag for my calling gun.I use the 22 mag instead of something bigger because I do not want to tear up a Bobcat if I get the chance. The 40 grain jhp comes out dime size at the worst in a cat,and still seems to thump coyotes good out to 125 yards, with good chest shots. If you gut shoot them, you won't skin that one unless there is tracking snow!
