Glock G40. Get a little extra fps and energy with the 6" barrel and the extra weight helps tame the recoil of hardcast Double Tap 200g projectiles and 200g Hornady XTPs doing nearly 1300 fps. Put a KKM match barrel that supports cases much better in it so you can reload and there's some formidable firepower.

I put Ameriglo night sights on mine as well and kept the stock trigger and put a Hogue grip and a APL-c light (super lightweight, compact light). How's the ZEV trigger you guys? This is my 'woods gun' most of the time.

I'll second this, G40 Glock is best Glock.

My revolvers stay in the safe now when I go hunting.

Night sights are raised so the RMR is in a co-witness set up. When putting the red dot back on, double check the line up with the night sights and good to go.

My guns trigger was horrible.
The zev unit is adjustable but I don’t have it as light as it can go. Waiting to see if it will shoot in a little more.it is a lot better than the factory one.

The raptor decal/wraps were cheap and made a difference in stability.

I've been researching putting together a G20, but from what I have read so far I would like to upgrade the barrel, spring, trigger, and sights. Could one of you guys who has built one of these message me and walk me through the process/pros and cons of different components (buys stock and replacing or ordering all the parts and assembling)?

Also have a Glock 29. I did buy a g20 magazine to run in it with a spacer but have yet to see how it works.

I do sometimes think I should have gotten the 20.

I could never see carrying the 40.

I went for the 40 just for the extra velocity from the 6 inch barrel.
In a Kenai holster it is not bad at all and I only carry it if I don't have a rifle in my hands or I am deer/varmit hunting.

Another vote for the G20 here. And as mentioned be sure to get your blue label pricing discount being MIL.

As a side bar, joining the GSSF is great way to get Blue Label pricing on Glocks for non LEO/MIL folks. With the discount coupons one could literally buy a Glock a year. Everyone needs 2 G19s, a G17, and G20; right? : )

Glock! I went the rounds in my head before I bought mine. It's purpose is mostly a lion pistol for hunting with my hounds, and grizzly defense when I make it to somewhere I need it. I did consider other options, but nothing else was going to come close for near the price. For the price of my 40, Leupold DP Pro, trigger, holster, ammo, co-witness sights and aftermarket barrel I'm still under the cost of the next competitor (Sig Hunter or 1911) with a lighter gun, longer barrel, and higher capacity. It's extremely accurate with Underwood 200 grain hardcasts in the stock barrel, so much so that I haven't bothered to buy the aftermarket one. The only bummer with the 10mm is that most off the shelf ammo is garbage. Horribly inaccurate and so watered down it's basically 40 S&W. The Underwood stuff has been fantastic for me.

FNX 45 Tactical with a EFK firedragon conversion to 40 Super or 10mm (Call Franki at EFK to discuss)

Same capacity as the glock, smaller grip, better trigger

Same for me gen 4 g20sf. Liked weight of 29 but much easier to repeat fire with the lager frame. I load 8-9 rounds to trim some weight. Installed a laser max laser, real real handy in low light like at dusk in timber were most sights for me are hard to pick up fast. Will add a trillium glow soon.

Sad story leaving the revolver in the safe.

Miss my blackhawk hunter in 44. My poor 329 pd and bisley blackhawk in 45LC have also taken second fiddle since my 10mm sickness took hold. Saved my ass once, will take a lot to make me switch.
Admittedly im recently smitten with PMR 30itis in two legged predator haunts.

Gratuitous G40 picture, with my Springer project 1911 and a coworker's RIA for company

G20 for me. I use a very accurate full power handload for it when I'm hiking or Bowhunting.
