I keep seeing conflicting statements on this bullet stabilizing in a 1:10 barrel. I‘m rebarreling my 270wsm to a 300wsm and went with a 26” 1:10 proof. My plan is to have my smith set it up for the 215’s. So what’s the deal on this bullet? According to Berger stability calculator I’ll be at around 1.49 here in KS at around 1000ft elevation at 32* and super stable over 5K.

I get that 1.49 is not optimal but it isn’t to far off from the optimal stability of 1.5+. I’ll still test it but have others had issues getting this to stabilize below say 2000ft. Also as temp increases so does stability.

I’m also wondering if the 220gr lr hybrid should be more on my radar as it’ll stabilize at 2750ft/s at 35* which I’m thinking I can do better on velocity.

I’ll be using RL26 and Bertram Brass, not sure if I’ll just use the win primers I had great success with in my 270wsm.

Thoughts and ideas? Max coal will be just under 2.95.

My barrel is 10 twist, and the 215 did not shoot near as well as 210.
Granted I didn't do a full latter test or really no other testing. I knew the 210 would work.
Hope to have time to revisit the 215 later on.

215’s and a 1:10 twist are always interesting. I’ve had some rifles that would stabilize them and others that wouldn’t. This includes a set of rifles me and a buddy had built by the same smith, same components to a “T”. Mine loved 215’s and his hated them.
