I need help with a load for my 25-06 and the Berger 115 gr vld Hunter bullets. I haven’t found much with google. I have one-7828ssc, h4350, retumbo and super performance. Any help would be appreciated!

I would guess the 4350 or 7828 would work good. If you have reloder 22 I’d try that as well

I’ve found best luck with IMR4831, but you didn’t say you have that on hand. And not those bullets, but bullets of similar weights. I recently picked up some 7828SSC the last time I was home to try in my 25-06 and 7 mag but after I started looking at my 25-06 loads I realized I have absolutely no reason to change what I have going on with it. I googled “25-06 with 7828SSC” and a couple forums came up. I’m sure you could find a load with it, and I’m curious as to how those VLD’s do as well.

I've used these bullets with Rl22 on a couple coyotes, 1 bull, a antelope, and 1 blacktail buck.
Deer was 200yds and shot through the ribs. Quarter sized hole in and out. Antelope was 484yds quartering. I hit him back and penetrated through liver, lung and exited maybe 1 1/2" hole.
Bull was 50yds broadside through the ribs, found mushroom on offside against the hide.

H4831sc or IMR4831 in my Ruger. They shot best with close to a max load and touching the lands. Consistent 1/2-5/8 group. Deadly on whitetail out to 500 in my experience.

Thanks for the replies! I’ve decided to work up a load with 115 gr partitions first before the 115 God’s. I will try and let you know what I come up with.

I shoot 115 Partitions in front of 48.9gr of IMR4350 in my .25-06.

Working up the load, about 48.8 to 49.0 is where the groups really started to come in nice & tight. I split the difference at 48.9 and quit tinkering and started hunting.

My summer project is to start working with a couple of the new Enduron powders.

Biggest reason is last fall I called and talked to Hodgdon about powders and the rep encouraged me to focus new loads on the newer powder. His suggestion was based on the old style powders eventually going away and the availability of the newer Enduron being better.

It seems that some of his logic is reasonable. I haven't seen any IMR or H4350 on the self; however I have been able to find a pound or two of the Enduron.

If you email Berger they’ll get back to you ASAP. A tech named chuck helped me a bunch on my 7 RM loads with VLD. I’m a 25-06 guy too so curious where you land.

Late to the game but if you’re still experimenting with the VLD I had good luck with 50 gr H4831sc at .010” off the lands.
