Bergara Inaccuracy Bedding Issues?

I picked up a used .223 Bergara Ridge Special Purpose on a whim from an old timer downsizing. I figured the short barrel would be perfect where I deer hunt from a tree stand and most shots are under 50 yards.

I’ve ran a variety of factory ammo through it and best I have gotten was 1.5 moa with 62gr TSX and almost everything else was 2-2.5 MOA.

He had bedded the rifle and I’m curious if the bedding could be causing problems. I have not done much with bedding on rifles so a little over my skies on this one.

Does this bedding look problematic? Should I look for another stock to try?

Not the cleanest bedding job, but should support the action. Make sure that the action screws aren't binding in the bedding compound.

Clean the barrel to bare metal and try again.

I had the exact same rifle and end up sending it back to Begara for a new one. I immediately sold the new rifle as I could not get the original to shoot a sub moa group. I have since moved on from the Bergara's as I have only had good barrels with the 6.5Cm from them. If it doesn't improve, send it back for a new barrel.
