Bergara b14 ridge wilderness opinions

Personally, id stay away from Bergara as of right now. They used to make very nice rifles, but for whatever reason here lately their quality control has slipped into dog turd land. Idk what happened, and maybe its already rectified, but i wouldnt trust them for now. You'll have a lot of guys on here tell you the opposite though and maybe their right, but i only know what ive seen first hand and several friends. I also know a couple of people who got Bergaras in the last year and are very happy

If it were me and i was looking for a nee rifle, id look at Tikka

I have an older Ridge and it has earned its keep. There are a couple of FB Bergara pages and there definitely seems to be quite a few complaints on the newer rifles. One of the pages has or had one of Bergara’s reps on it. He was always quick to make sure problems were addressed. With that being said, with all of the quality rifle manufacturers out there, who would want to deal with sending a rifle back for repair?

Exactly . You shouldn't be using the general public as your quality control team. Quick fixes or not, thats inexcusable. It seems they are going the same way of the Remington 700 they sought to replace. Its really a shame; no more Bergaras for me.

What specific issues have come up recently? I've been eyeballing a b14 in 7mm and would like to know.

I have that exact rifle and like it, but it’s heavy.
I like the quality and shoots great with any factory ammo.
I don’t regret the purchase because it shoots so well. I bought mine new 2 years ago so I can’t speak about the current quality. I also have a 30-06 I bought 4 years ago and it’s been great too.

A buddy of mine has the ridge in 300wm. Very accurate rifle. Recoil isn't too bad for a 300wm because it is heavy. So if you're looking for something lightweight bergara isn't the gun.
I've got a timber in .30-'06 and just shy of 10lbs

The wilderness ridge isn’t built to be light, and it’s not overly heavy. My bergara mountain is under 8 pounds scoped. Bare gun is just over 6. Just gotta pick the correct model.

Guess I should rephrase, most of the bergara line up is fairly heavy. The B-14 Wilderness Ridge in 300wm in question might be considered on the hefty side to some at 7.7lbs for the gun alone and could quickly approach 9-10lbs loaded out.

I've looked at the premier series and they are some nice rifles. I almost got one of the mountain 2.0, just couldn't justify the price tag in the end.

I have one and it's a tack driver. I think if you look on the referenced FB page, yes there are people that have some issues, but there are also a ton of people that don't have issues that aren't posting. The main issues seem to be with the recoil lugs having paint on them and needing to clean them and re-torque. Every manufacturer has issues. Look at the Remington 700 safety issue, and I dare say they are one of the best actions ever made. Or the Leupold VX5/6 tracking issues. I wouldn't shy away from one, in fact, I am probably going to buy another one soon.

Yea I would to put my hands on the premier
I was looking at the mountain 2.0. Then I compare $ to ridge wilderness. I know the 2.0 has a differ trigger and a few more pros but just unsure rt now

I will also add to look at some of the upper lines. They are also sending out PR on the newest models as we speak. The bluing on the B-14 Ridge isn't the greatest, but it was their second from the bottom rifle at the time I bought it. I can ring steel at 800 yards consistently with an $800 rifle and factory ammo.

Bergara just dropped a wilderness with a carbon barrel starting at 6.4 pounds.

I feel for the basically extra $1000 that you should be getting a lot more over the wilderness line. That's why I passed. In my opinion for the price of a mountain 2.0 a just as nice rifle can be had with good glass as well for that kind of money.

I can't speak for the B14, but I do own a HMR Pro in 300PRC. It's been a great rifle for me! Only downside is that it's a little on the heavy side. I will buy another Bergara...
