I don’t have a 686 but I have a silver snipe over under that I inherited from my grandpa and I love that gun even though it has no sentimental value to me I would never get rid of it. I have looked at the 686 a few times but always take the silver snipe out when I go out for upland

A lot of sporting ranges have a huge variety of shots. Some in your face cylinder or Skeet choke and some out there full choke shoots. I occasionally will put in the correct choke for the distance and target....on edge, while face, rabbit, teal , etc. That said in my bird guns it is usually IC bottom and Mod top if I don’t want to change. If a known “short” shot course then Skeet bottom and IC top. Have fun!

Just picked up some Federal target loads for 20 gauge in #8"s for sporting clays. I've been shooting #71/2's in winchester, and just thought I would try to compare the two. Anyone have experience with both?

I use briley chokes in my berettas

Love the lm choke for upland later season

The correct answer is to pattern your ammo selections with various choke tubes. Most of us don’t bother for casual sporting. Tedious to count pellets in circles. But,some big cardboard sheets, a marker pen and a box or three of various ammo will tell you a lot about your shotgun, whether it is regulated correctly (both barrels shoot to the same point of aim), and whether it shoots a bit high or dead on, etc.

Good luck with it, and the Briley chokes are excellent in my 20 ga 686, but nothing is wrong with the factory chokes either.

I have a 686 20 its a nice shooting gun. I had to do some minor modifications to the stock to square it up I installed a Morgan adjustable recoil pad when doing so. I run the black cloud MR/LR chokes for pheasant and chuckar
