Picked up a beretta 3901 the other day with the factory sticker still on it..price was right, couldnt pass it up since I was sort of casually in the market for a plastic waterfowl shotgun. Apparently the 3901 is a newer model with rounded receiver that is internally identical to the 390. The question I have may or may not apply to a 391 as well, Im not sure.

Question I have for anyone who owns or is familiar with this gun. The safety button on the gun protrudes from BOTH sides of the trigger guard, both when it is on safe and on fire. On my gun, when it is on SAFE there is still a decent amount of the red “safe indicator” showing. I noticed it, and my brother immediately noticed it as well. (Yes, I confirmed numerous times the gun is actually safed.)

I know this safety button is reverseable, but have not fiddled with it yet. Im wondering if this issue is because someone re-assembled the button incorrectly, or if thats just the way the safety looks. Anyone familiar and able to comment?

Just looked at my 2002 AL391 Urika gold sporter I bought new. It has a lot of red when ready to fire and a bit of red when on safe. Safety works very securely on it.

Maybe a bit of red is to warn you to never trust just the safety but practice muzzle control as well? Who knows what the Italians were thinking.

I am away from home, wonder if the A400s are configured the same? Will check in a few weeks when I get back from a Coues deer hunt with some AZ sporting clays mixed in.
