I have a 20 guage montefeltro and have shot a couple different a400s. The a400 is better all around but the montefeltro is really slim and carries nice. Not sure if the updated model is better but the finish is terrible on my montefeltro and the saftey is really stiff takes a bit to get used to. The trigger reach is also longer on the benelli not bad just different from most O/U.

Okay, so I went and spent a couple hours the other day checking the SX4, A400 and Montefeltro. Just so everyone knows I do already have a Franchi Affinity 3 that I love.

Anyway, by the time I handled all of them multiple times I ended up buying something different than all three of them. Beretta Ultima A300. Just out of curiosity I grabbed one and it ended up feeling amazing and shouldered like a glove for me, I figured I might as well buy what fits the best so I did.

Thanks for all the advice.

Picked up a A300 and I really like it. 6' 4" frame, fits me well. Put a Limbsaver pre-fit added a 1/2" perfect. I only shoot doves and quail so it's 2-3/4 for me. Felt recoil is minimal.

Montefeltro for me as I am a lefty, have had it for 20+ years and has functioned flawlessly. Light and comes up nice for me.

I own a 302, 390 and an A400 lite with kick ease and a Montefeltro, all 12 ga.
I must be an oddball when people talk about gas guns needing to be cleaned more often. All of them over the years wouldn’t get broke down and cleaned until the end of the season of chukar and waterfowl season.
The 390 and A400 would cycle all 2-3/4 and 3” shells I fed it. he 302 only took 2-3/4”
I’ve also shot SBE’s . They shoot great but can be finicky with light loads along with my Montefeltro. My buddy has a SBE that will not cycle certain brand waterfowl loads reliably.

The best advice I heard was get one in your hand and see which one feels better. Do you like the safety forward or behind the trigger guard? Balance? Foregrip?

FYI the Affinity 3 is the original SBE minus some minor internal changes.

This is my experience as well with my versamax and a400. They just keep going.
