I have used my Benchmade Altitude twice and it stays home these days. It didn't hold an edge as long as some of my other knives. I have the early version with very small scales and I was wishing it had more substantial scales/grip when I was using it. The newer version has full length scales, so that is likely an improvement over the old version.

I seem to always be looking for the perfect light weight hunting knife, so I picked up a Day Six Dragonfly to try out. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but if the edge retention is good, it may be the perfect knife for my use. Day Six doesn't list the Dragonfly on their web page but you can purchase if you email or call them. They say they are coming out with a larger version of the Dragonfly in early 2026. I'm not affiliated with them, I just like the concept of the dual blade.

Check out the Hogue Extrak. US made, Pretty much the altitude with a better handle. Slightly lighter with the sheath.

I have both the Ridge and the Altitude. I also own/use, sharpen a collection of v high end Japanese and other chisels, along with Lie Nielsen and Bridge City planes. Long winded way of saying I own and use some v good steel.

The Ridge and Altitude blades and handle shapes are virtually identical. Same steel. I believe Ridge may have a slightly higher hardness.

Buy the Ridge and use the $100+ saved to buy a pack of three Iron Will Solid broadheads. AWESOME broadheads..

I must be missing the expensive knife gene, but I've tried a lot of different knives and I just keep going back to a mora.

Very expensive knife (for me) but my recommendation. The carbon version is excellent as well. And you won't have to deal with the gross paracord replacement after every use.
