I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 1/2 year old. I use one of these upstairs and downstairs. They work every time and no way someone is getting in them. Carry a gun daily so use the downstairs box a lot.

Be careful to make sure it is an intruder and not your own child wandering the house or sneaking in and out when they get older. Noises in the middle of the night can play tricks on people.

I like those simplex locks for reliable "temporary" storage. I've always had good luck with them. I say "temporary" because unless you change the code , your kids will figure it out. Besides, after a hundred openings a pattern starts to wear into the faceplate if you don't change the code.
