Does anyone have a recommendation for a pistol safe for the bedroom? I have a couple little guys at home that are super curious and way smarter than they should be. I’ve been looking at the HD200 from Liberty, it doesn’t have great reviews. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a Vaultek which I like pretty well. Also have one from another manufacturer (don't recall which) which operates off a finger scan versus a numeric code, but it can be a little finicky which I hate.

I have the Liberty HDX-250 and it works pretty well. I normally have to scan my fingerprint twice for it to open but it only takes 5 seconds or so to scan, unlock and allow me access to the firearms inside.

In general, pistol safes are strong boxes made of hardened steel to protect guns, ammo, and other valuables from theft. This type of safe is usually bolted to the floor and can usually fit under your bed, although it is a bit big for that. There are many types of these safes but, if you have little kids, the best option is the classic pistol safe, made out of hardened steel.

Hey mods...found a bot for ya.

I’ve read good things about the fast action safes. I’m going to order their suppressor model safe. I think they are the only ones making a bedside to fit a suppressed pistol.

I have several Vaultek's and they are OK. Batteries are a PITA no matter which model you go with that requires them. Just struggled with my bedroom one this week. It beeped at me, but wouldn't accept my code. I used the backup key and went through the process to re-program the code several times no luck. It beeps and sure sounds like it's working, just not accepting the code. I didn't have a spare 9V battery so I waited until I picked one up and that was the cure ... back to batteries suck to get to your gun.

Personally I would consider the Fas1if I were buying one today ... mechanical = no batteries - http://www.fas1safe.com/

I have a couple StopBox's and I like them well enough for what they are. They are a cheap option to keep guns secure from kids. BOGO for $130. They have no electronics.

I use a ironworks small safe as a nightstand, fits a lot of stuff like title, passport and pistol. All my important paperwork.

Is the exterior shell plastic? From the video it looks like it is almost fully plastic. If so that doesn't look all that protective or secure.

Thanks for all the input, still not sure which way to go. I have a 3 year old that may someday be able to crack into my big gun safe lol I'm starting to think the small safe night stand is the way to go lol

Better start teaching those kids the consequences of touching it because it isn't going to do you any good in that safe...

If that's addressed at me, you are correct. My kids will know the consequences,. Right now for the age they are at, it works. If I have to adjust down the road, I will. But my expectations are that when my kids gare old enough to have the ability to break into that box of plastic, if I've done my job, they will damn well know better.

Any good suggestions for quick access for a long gun? I remember something that was like a clamshell that you would mount to the wall, then it would clamp around your receiver and lock. I can't seem to find it now.

I got one from the LGS that will hold 3 long guns and has a small shelf for a pistol or some ammo/lights at the top. It is a thumbprint safe that I secured to the floor. Takes about a second to unlock, then you turn the handle and have access. Cost was around $300. I wouldn't put it up against a determined burglar, but for keeping quick access to a shotgun and an AR for coyotes, it works great, and keeps the kids out.

I also have a nightstand vaultek for the pistol.
