Any guesses to the age of this sow? She is about 5’ nose to tail. Her bottom incisors are pretty worn down and her canines are all a little beat up.

Pretty bear though.

Guesstimate will be 12-15.

If you ever see a bear's mouth and it looks similar to what is in this thread, you take that bear as long as it is legal (ex: no cubs). The size and gender do not matter; that sucker is a true trophy. They do not get old being dumb or easy to kill.

Huge congratulations to 8404 and 160andup on awesome bears.

I appreciate the kind words. We spent several weekends over the course of two months looking for the right bear and as soon as I spotted her, I knew I had to see if I could make something happen. She definitely did not make it easy on us!

I bet that bear will be older than you think. Old enough to vote easy. You send a tooth in? Dont know which state you got that bear, but i only hunt washington and idaho and its mandatory both states.
This washington sow the tooth results came back at 25yrs. Also got one in idaho a few years back aged at 22.20220818_113506_copy_800x600.jpg20220818_172511_copy_800x600.jpg

Not sure that the quote thing is working. 160andup, pretty surprised that bear was "only" aged at 19. Looks pretty rough compared to other bears ive had aged. Would you mind saying which state that came from? Reason im asking is that as far as im aware there are only 2 or 3 labs doing cementum teeth aging in the country. Curious which lab aged that bear. His teeth sure look like a bear id expect to be older than that, from my admittedy limited experience with tooth aging. Its just a subject that interests me. If you dont want to say, thats cool. If you dont want to say publicly, a pm would be appreciated.

Heres a sow i killed this august (thought for sure it was a boar, but it happened fast) that i suspect will be aged at 16 +, comparing it to tooth condition of other bears ive had aged. Should have results back by february or march. Always fun to speculate, and see how close i was. My phone signal has been garbage here at home lately. I apologize in advance if this is posted multiple times, or if a photo is repeated. Damn rural phone signals are unreliable.20230806_152334_copy_600x800.jpg20230806_170555_copy_800x600.jpg20230806_204238_copy_800x600.jpg
