Can anyone point me to a good resource for info on seasons, laws, regulations and info for planning a DIY black bear hunt in Quebec?

I have access to a family cabin on a lake near Val d'or. East of Val d'or off of 117 and north of the wild life sanctuary. Zone 13.

Never hunted Canada and I am thinking about a hunt for next year. There is some land I can get access to. Very thick forrests are going to make it an ambush hunt. I think baiting is legal but I am not sure. I can't figure out if it is in sector b or not so not sure if I would need a guide. There are some outfitters in the area but if I have to pay an outfitter, I would probably do it in an area that is closer to me in New York, if at all.

I have do a bit of googling but it doesn't appear to me to be as clear as I would have hoped.

Thoughts and guidance are appreciated. Thanks.

I live in North Bay, ON only a few hours from that location. I have never hunted quebec but have done some scouting there and looked into it a bit. I would not try and bear hunt without bait, bears don't move like moose or deer. I hunt moose and deer in HEAVY bear areas and I have never had a bear walk by while I was on stand. Also while stalking in the bush I only have had three times that I could of shot a bear, that's in 18 yrs of hunting.

If I was you I would be looking into moose hunting. That area is prime for moose and during the rut you would have a good chance of calling in a bull. For DIY moose you will need to find a partner I believe. I am not 100% sure for US residents but I know that non-residents of Quebec can get 1 tag for 2 guys. You each pay ~$375 and you get one tag, no guide/outfitter needed.

Access to a cabin on a lake in Quebec is a great start. Good luck

Fairly sure non residents can't hunt black bear or woodcock in Quebec without using an outfitter. I would check the regs closely.
