New to baiting for bears and looking for some recommendations on where to place my bait. One of the areas I will be using is a long east facing ridge with north/south draws cutting into it. Where would you guys place a bait? In the dark north facing cuts or on the more open south facing areas? Closer to the creek bottom or higher up away from the water? Thanks

Spring hunt, south side. Grass greens up first there.
Alway liked to start a bait and put a big grease pit in front. Let’em track it around and do the work for you.

Doesn't matter if you have good attractant. South slope can help if you are close to snow line, but if you have good smells they will find it and use it if your in a decent bear area. We like to cross a creek or ridge just to keep the hound guys away.

There is a big difference on getting bears on a bait vs killing them when you're there.

I like running baits in the cover, relatively near water. I think bears often travel along creeks, and I've always attracted more bears when hunting near one.
