I don't know Kelly personally but just talked to him recently about a cougar hunt. I have searched numerous reviews and found nothing negative at all. This includes Canadian forums also.
Is a typical lynx hunt one animal? Could you take multiple or a wolf too? I’ve been looking into some Canadian trapping trips, but a hunt would be interesting too.
I hunted lynx with Kelly Morton in late January, 2020 in BC. Was a very short notice cancelation hunt....booked the hunt on Saturday and started hunted hunting Monday morning at daybreak. Hunt area was only a 2.5 hour drive from my house in BC to Kelly's hunting area/base camp.
Kelly's lynx hunt was excellent! He and his guides have excellent hounds, they know their hunting area very well and their equipment is top notch. Snow conditions were not the best when I hunted as it had been quite a while since it had snowed, but we found a fresh lynx track on day 3 and treed the nice tom after a few hour chase. I arrowed him, which was a tad tricky due to a lot of tree branches and fir needles partially obstructing a clear shot as well as up at a 45* angle to the treed lynx. The distance was short....about 15 yards.
The food and lodging were excellent with base camp being a nice ranch house. Kelly's wife took some great "before" photos of the lynx too. Overall it was a great time with great people. As a footnote the lynx was good eating and made a beautiful rug.
Wait...you ate the lynx? Never heard of that...then again, I have never hunted lynx...now i wanna try it. I had cat once in China and it tasted like s*#@t. Gotta try lynx now...
