I used to think that a Mountian Goat hunt was unattainable since I am middle-aged and dont have any points accumulated. However, I recently saw some BC guided hunts advertised for around $15,000. This seems pretty reasonable. Is a legitimate Mt. Goat hunt in BC really that cheap? If so can anyone recommend some guide serviced in the price range?

Beaverfoot outfitting is around 12,500 including tags and taxes. Easy logistics. Great area with alot of goats. I have hunted with them twice.

Do your due diligence. If you find an outfitter charging 15K and the rest are charging 20-25K, there is a reason for that. I know when it comes to sheep, resident pressure is a real thing in BC when looking at guided hunts. Be sure to ask each outfitter how much resident pressure they have and if they have places they can take you where the chance of that is greatly reduced. Ask each outfitter what region of BC they are in. Some regions will be draw (less resident pressure) and some will be OTC (more resident pressure) for other species, I don't know about goat specifically.

A quick google search of "mountain goat hunting british columbia" yielded plenty of names to start contacting.

First one I clicked on is less than $13K

It seems like Alaska Mountain Goat Hunts are typically under $15k. I'm not quite sure why the Canadian hunts cost quite a bit more but I'm sure someone has a better understanding of the differences. Maybe more costly bush flights.

Southern BC is a great place to hunt. Goats aren't as large as western bc billies. Might cost more for you.

USD is much stronger than cdn dollar too.

I live in SE BC and managed to get a 10" 11-12yr old Billie so there are some big ones out there.

Look in the east Kootenay's for outfitters.

Close to border. Could fly into spokane, wa and drive up.

Hope you can make it happen.

Goat hunts were 7-8K not that long ago..........

But yea most guys seem to be 15-20K now.

I think there will still be good hunts at 15K if you do your homework.
There are definitely similar style hunts for less money(Aoudad, Asian Ibex and Tahr/Chamois here), but I feel a Mt goat hunt is still a good value mountain hunting experience.

Logistics for some outfitters are very expensive(flights) so this is often a big factor in pricing. There are places that you can drive into, which makes things much cheaper for the outfitter.

Just wait until next year when the pending recession is in full bloom. There will be a ton of cancellations for just about everything. Hunt costs will be axed in half. Happens every time.

Looking forward to this. Do you think sheep hunts will also be half off?

I would highly doubt this happens. Alot of outfits are booked 3+ years out with waiting lists...would love to see it happen and be able to do a sheep hunt but I'm just not seeing it
