Looking to increase the comfort of my basecamp tent camping sleep setup. I have used a XL Cabelas cot, inflatable pad, and mummy bag. The pad and bag are the same setup i use for backpack hunting, so light weight and minimalistic. It leaves a lot to be desired, and not really comfortable.

Im looking at the Cabelas Trapper 0 degree bag and a foam pad. Anyone used this bag or another flannel canvas bag that is big and warm? Obviously weight and size do not matter. For the pad Ive heard good things about the Davis Tent bedroll.

Is the base camp something you'll drive to, or hike into?

How is your current setup uncomfortable? Warmth? Restriction? Hard sleeping surface?

I also always sleep on a bigger cot and heavy Thermarest pad in base camp, and often use a large, rectangular, 0° flannel lined/canvas outer bag. Pretty much like you’re describing, but I can’t remember if it’s a Cabela’s or not. The bag has a big flap (about 2 1/2’ long), at the head, that I guess you can use to fold over the top of your head, IDK for sure why it’s there.
