Base Layer - quick ?

Am I missing something by looking over the synthetics for a base layer, next to skin? I am looking at merino tops because I like the odor control. Seems like last year my Sitka synthetic would get to stinking pretty quick. Thoughts?

I use the thin synthetic (Under Armour) shirt for next to skin, and then wear the merino layer over that. Prevents any irritation from the merino wool. I have several of each so I can change them out when they get stinky.

I have worn both, I never liked the "scratchiness" of merino, plus they stretch out and lose shape quite quickly (at least all mine did). Merino is super for stopping the stink, but I wore Sitka's polygene for 10 straight days in Wyoming last season, and I was impressed.

My vote is for synthetics! IMO
