Looking at purchasing something to make basecamp a little more comfortable. Considering a wall tent, a rebuilt tear drop trailer or someting like a Aliner. Towing from ohio so want to keep it light and small. Any thoughts or experiences?

Kodiak Canvas 10x14 works awesome with a Mr Heater buddy for basecamp. Easy setup and stands up to the weather. I think towing limits where you can get to with your setup. Been happy with the simplicity of the Kodiak without full on wall tent.

We've used wall tents a ton in the past. Now I use a Sierra Designs Mtn Tarp with a stove jack. I grew to hate how long a wall tent camp takes to set up abd how much damn stuff you bring. I can still fit a couple cots in my Mtn tarp, and all the other useless shit stays home.

I use an Ellis Prairie Tent... Made out of lightweight canvas. It has a 12'x12' footprint. Room for 2 cots. It has a stove Jack and I use a propane heater that's vented.

The tent takes me less than 15 minutes to set up and is lightweight. It easily packs in a canvas bag they provide. Much lighter than a Kodiac tent. I looked at wall tents but OMG they take too much work and time to set up! They have several different models of tents.

Think I'm gonna get one of them Kodiak Truck Bed tents for my
Ram 2500 w/8ft. bed. Should be comfy with a catalytic heater.
Done got too old for sleeping with the bugs/mice on the cold ground.

When you hunting, early bow, late bow, gun? How many people? And where?

I'm looking at getting a small enclosed trailer set up that I can use as a toy hauler and ice fishing shack the rest of the year. I have found some dual axle 7x12 with an RV door and window(s) in it for under $4k. With the V it is actually 14', but still small enough it doesn't take up a whole lot of real estate. I know some people have converted small trailers to fit their needs, but this is brand new off the lot for not all that much more $$. I figured you could fit 2 cots in there fairly easily, or set up a bunk system that would have 4 cots with room down the middle. Best of all worlds in my opinion. I do have an 8 man alaskan guide as well as a cimarron with a stove....but simplicity of a trailer intrigues me.

Your question cannot be answered intelligently without more details, as others have pointed out.

We have been using a 7x16 enclosed trailer with a few tweaks. Handy having a cargo trailer when not hunting.

Thanks for the replies guys. Leaning toward the enclosed trailer but may supplement with a Cabelas Alynak when we have more than two guys along. I can start bare bones and modify the trailer as I go.

+1 10x14 Kodiak Canvas.
FWIW it does have a floor.

We started with a canvas wall tent (used), which was fine. Then we moved to an Alynak (gently used) and that has been really nice. We have now modified the inside of our trailer. All 3 work fine, depends on your budget and amount of people.
