I’m about to sight-in my new Barrett Fieldcraft in 6.5. What factory loads work best for other Fieldcraft operators? I’m about to get into reloading but not there yet so factory ammo will have to do for now. Thanks in advance from Nashville

I’ve been happy with the 140 and 147gr eldms as well as the 143 eldx out of mine. As far as grouping I’d give a slight edge to the 140gr eldm, my three shot groups still hover around .75 moa with the others though.

Haven’t tried any other ammo yet.

The Hornady Precision Hunter with the 143 ELDX would go 5 into a 1/2" in my 18" FC. Pretty hard to go wrong there.

Truthfully, I never found a factory load that shot worse than 1.5", and that was the Hornady "American Whitetail" 139 Interlock. Still plenty good enough for hunting.

I have read where some are getting very good accuracy out of the 6.5 Creed Fieldcraft using S&B ammunition. It seems to be reasonably priced so might be worth a try.

10 round groups from several Fieldcrafts average between 1.5-1.7 MOA with the S&B.

Hey guys any update on this thread? Did anybody try any other ammo for their Barrett Fieldcraft 6.5?
I’m looking to get something for a 22” Barrett 6.5 .
Thanks for any advice

The Hornady 140 ELDM has been the most accurate factory ammo I’ve tried, in my Fieldcraft, and a few others. However, the difference between those and the 147s or a few of the Bergers is trivial. I prefer those others for hunting. No real reason, just more confidence in the other bullets.

Eldx is less than an inch at 100 for me. I tried the 129 American whitetail last weekend and it was easily the same as eldx - maybe better.
