I'm looking for an ultra lightweight backcountry rifle in 30 caliber and keep coming back to the Fieldcraft.

I can still find unthreaded 308 Win, but the threaded 308's are impossible to find new. I would like to thread for my Omega suppressor (which has threaded mounts of 1/2", 9/16" available).

My questions:
1. What is the muzzle diameter for the 21" 308 Win?
2. What is the muzzle diameter for the 24" 30-06?
3. What is the barrel diameter at 22" for the 30-06?

I appreciate the assist...

Answer to question number:

1- .558”

2- .620”

3- .634”

With the above numbers on the .308 rifle, going with the 1/2x28 (9/16 is out of the question) is not going to leave much of a shoulder for that thread mount to butt up against on the .308 21” barrel. I personally would not use it and would go with the 7/16 thread pitch on the Kimber thin barrel rifles and get an adaptor that readily available.

With the larger number 2 contour barrels on the 30/06 Fieldcrafts the 1/2x28 is no problem.

Could I trouble you to measure how far down a .308 21” barrel you’d have to go before enough diameter for 1/2x28 threads to mount suppressor?

Thanks!
