Barrett Fieldcraft Experience

Don’t discount those 127gr. LRX’s, extremely accurate as well as performing outstanding on game.

Yes, I have 24” 6.5 CM fieldcraft and those shoot great. I also just picked up a .270, concerned they might not bring the FC back into production and wanted/needed one more:-)

I’ve a 6 Creedmoor and a 270 that are tack drivers. I had an 18” 6.5 as well as the 21” 6.5 that I sold. One would walk as it warmed, the other never shot to my expectations.

Good to know, thanks. I'll try and pick up a box to shoot and see how it groups.

Anyone here have a Barrett Fieldcraft? If so can you share any experiences? Good/bad/how does it shoot/anything you feel like passing on.
Thanks
I have one in 308 with threaded barrel. It shoots half moa at 200 yards. My recipe is: federal match primer, 44.5 grains varget, 168 grain accubond LR, nosler brass, and .015 from the lands.
scope: Swarovski Z5 3.5-18

I have handled the fieldcrafts but don’t own one but compared to my custom 6.5 they are very impressive for the price. I want to own one.

I have 9 of their rifles and they all shoot well. When a customer can't afford a custom rifle, this is one of the rifles I suggest. All have been good shooting rifles 3 shot groups in the 3/4MOA range and 10-shot groups in the 1.25MOA range. I own a 6mm Creedmore, 25/06, three different model 6.5C's, 6.5-55, 270, 30/06 and a custom Lilja barreled 280ai.

You will not be disappointed IF you can find the one you are looking for as they have are presently on hold for future production runs. 2-3 years is what Barrett reps told me is when they expect to be back to full production at best.

Any chance you'd be willing to part with one of the short action models? My sheep hunting partner is looking into an alternative to his 9lb, 26" barrel .30-06 Weatherby Vanguard...

I have one in a 270. 6lb and 6oz with a Swarovski 3-10. Very accurate and well made rifle. Hopefully they make a 280 when they get back in production

They work great! 6.5 CM with some custom stock work done by Double Broomed Mountain Rifles to fit me better.

Was out shooting my 30-06 Fieldcraft today. 65* & sunny. Gorgeous.
First cold barrel shot hit my 500 yard plate. Second shot hit the 400. 3rd and 4th miss left at 300. All went to hell after that. I let the barrel get almost cold and hit at 300 but low and missed low at 500.
I was lying in my truck bed prone off my pack. Factory Federal Premium 180 accubond.
Leupold VX3i 30mm tube 4.4-14x40
I created a dope card for my conditions and it was close at first.
I thought with that light contour barrel it wouldn’t have changed POI that much being fully bed. Will go back out and try again with a cold barrel and see what my first couple shots do. For a hunting rifle I guess those are the important ones.
My shots felt like they broke pretty clean.

I've never experienced that with my 6.5. I've shot 8-10 rounds fairly quickly and never had much change in POI. I wonder if the -06 heats up a bit more. I'm not sure what your experience is shooting light rifles, but I know that I wouldnt be able to shoot a 30 caliber rifle multiple times quickly and keep the same accuracy as a much lighter recoiling 6.5.

Recoil doesn’t bother me. Especially from an 06.
I typically shoot a .300wsm but I never fire that fast. I enjoy shooting so I just take my time.
I took my VX3i off last night and put on my VX5HD. A little more light and better glass. Will see how this goes. Our hunt in Wyoming is in a few weeks.

I have a 22-250 and 6.5x55. Both feel great! They have a thick wrist on the stock. Much like a nula. They shoot everything I’ve put in them well. Smooth, light, great deal.

I know it's been a while guys. But got a barrett fieldcraft 270 and a 25-06 heading this way any recommendations for factory ammo for the two?

I'm going to try Barnes vor-tx ttsx 130s as I used them last year in my forbes with great results, i have a ton of extra factory ammo ranging up to 150s for the 270. I know alot of guys are saying barrett rifle seem to have better accuracy with heavier bullets.
Any comments on 25-06?
