barrel length for 300 prc

I am about to purchase a carbon barrel for my new build its going to be a hunting rifle looking for opinions on barrel length I have the option for 22,24,26 I'm thinking of going with the 22" barrel to save some weight and for it to not be so long, what am I giving up by going with that.? Just feet per sec or ballistics?

Just velocity which does effect ballistics. You just need to know what bullet you want to shoot, the minimum velocity for expansion for that bullet, and run a ballistic calculator to see if it will work at the range you want to shoot to. My Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT with 22” barrel is getting 2809 fps with Hornady Precision Hunter. That's in a new barrel so it will speed up.

What are you hunting? What is your realistic distance on game? What bullet do you plan to shoot?

Chances are likely that even an 18" barrel will get your bullet of choice further than your application.
