Hey Guys,

Pretty new to custom rifles and building but am working on a mountain build.

I made the mistake of ordering a stock to quick and had it inlet for a Proof Sendero, which now I can't get for what may be a year.

I have the option to get an HCA Heavy Hunter in a much quicker timeline, although the contours aren't exact, they are somewhat close(HCA is closer to a sendero light)

Looking to see if anyone has an opinion on this or think itll cause any issue?

If you want to get a Proof barrel, feel free to PM me, I have a pretty good source that is the largest distributor of barrels. Anyone can PM me, I can save you some money as well if you are looking for a Proof barrel whether steel or carbon fiber. Stock is pretty low but my guy has regular orders, and when they land in his hands they are available to me.

As for barrels, I think what you did is genius. I always buy a larger barrel channel than I will use. I like to see lots of real estate between the barrel and the stock. I know enough now that even the stiffest stocks and chassis can flex and that a stock touching the barrel is bad juju. I think people would be surprised to see what movement there is in a rifle bits, scope, stock and barrel. Also, when you shoot out your current barrel, you can then get your Sendero Proof.

Narrow channels do nothing but aesthetics, IMO. Maybe you could say it is easier to get sticks in there or something if you are busting brush, but that has never been an issue for me. I shoot enough that I like a larger channel for barrels to cool as well. If you've seen chassis rifles, those channels are enormous.

I am admittedly not "cool" and while I like a nice looking stock and rifle, it is the last thing I think about when putting it together. I am function over form all day. I do not think it is "cool" to have a barrel channel that is super tight to the barrel that you can slide a dollar bill through. But, that is what lots of other guys like.

So, hit me up for a barrel, maybe that isn't a problem at all. But, if you get a thinner barrel, the extra space could only bother you. It won't bother the rifle.
