Barrel channel size?

My Tikka action is at Preferred getting a new barrel. It will be a .850 profile, what diameter should I open the channel to getting it ready for the new barreled action? It is a straight taperless barrel. I am going to wrap a socket in sandpaper open it up, I figured I would just measure the socket with calipers and just work it out.

I would to.

To the OP, I like to have about a 1/16" gap on all sides of the barrel, so with a 0.850" diameter, I would use a 1" outside diameter socket. Not sure exactly what size socket that equates to in your set.

I like a big gap too. So get after it to make it 1/8 larger than the barrel.
