Nice bullet! I just forgot I got a sealed box of 180 TTSX in the armory. I gotta open that baby right now and check! LOL
Hmmm... Looks like tips are Barnes Achilles at times more than just in the present.

I think they all get run on the same production line whether they are for a muzzleloader or metallic cartridges. That's where demand can't be met because they can't make all of them in any given day. I'm probably thinking it's more of an issue with the tips and the supplier there than it has to do with barnes other than they missed the problem with that batch if tips. I suspect the hollow points under the tip are concentric.

They definitely have some QC issues with tips. I may try to find five good ones and then shoot to compare to five wonky tips.

I do feel like Ive seen more issues in the past 2-ish years than previously, and I think various threads on the subject reinforce that impression. Before 2020 I had never seen any of these issues. Inwasnt looking per se but I feel like what ive seen is obvious enough that I would have noticed it. I certainly dont have data to quantify that though. To those that say shut up and shoot, if we dont say something Barnes DEFINITELY wont improve QC, shutting up and shooting just enables quality to continue slipping. Its the nature of things.
I have not noticed a problem at 100 or 200 yards, but it also makes me wonder if the obvious stuff isnt right, what about the rest thats harder to see? Doesnt mean Im swearing off Barnes (yet). But it does open the door for a competitor. Lots of stuff has slipped during/after covid and adding huge demand spikes doesnt help that, so the question to me is do they work to get back to where I think they were, or are they going to allow this to be the new normal? When barnes was purchased did they move to a different production facility? That rarely helps either.
That is a daggum great response and I have the same sentiments when it comes to protecting the value of my dollar for a product. I believe it is the duty of the consumers to keep the manufacturers to task.

I (Barnes poster child) even picked up a box of 200 gr .358 Power shock Hammers over the last month. Lathe turning and no tips may leave pretty small margin for error in the grand scheme.

Just happy I've never had tip issues with .277, .284, .308 or .358 TTSX product.

I like what was said about holding them accountable, and I can appreciate that despite my earlier post. Just because someone has an issue and I don't doesn't make me more valid or them less valid.

I like that we can agree upon what makes a good tips.

I'm sure someone is going to start a thread: "Show us your tips".
