Does anyone have any heavy pack out experience with this pack? I like the meat shelf set up but it also seems like a ton of excess straps.

Badlands is the Vortex of packs. The warranty is great and you’ll be grateful for that every time you use it.

They are useable. But not great. Haven’t used that specific pack, but did use badlands with a buddy getting two elk out in a day. Bought an EXO the next week. I was younger then. If it had been today I think I would have had some back injuries from how bad that pack was.

Right on, yes the warranty seems like a plus for sure. My pack outs mainly consist of smaller bodied Southern California deer, so nothing comparable to an elk.

The EXO and initial ascent packs are definitely top on my list but the price is what holds me back a bit.

You can find a used K2 or SG pack for near the money you’ll spend on one new from BL. Much better option. Even with 50 pounds, your back and shoulders will thank you. And both of those companies will stand behind those packs.
