Backup irons or backup scope

One option I have used is to bring my aimpoint micro as a back up. I use pic rails so they work great with a micro I already have on low qd mount for my CZ scorpion. I like back irons but my tikkas don’t have them, the micro is way better than irons for shooting at to 200 hits are easy, it returns to zero great and takes up no room or weight in the pack.

Spence.

This year, I was sighting in a rifle that shoots 1/2 moa. Nightforce scope and rings, EGW base. I pulled the scope off the gun while at the range and recounted it. It shot ~2" left at 100 yards. I double checked the rings and tightened it slightly more and then shot a group 1" left. I guess there are two points to this. First, I was impressed it was a close as it was after remounting, second, the amount of torque put in to each fastener has an effect on it's. Pretty straight forward I think.

Impressive none the less, but not good enough for me to field swap and be confident

I learned at a young age to have a back-up. Depending on the hunt either a spare optic or rifle. In 1974 my Dad was brown bear hunting outside Haines, He carried a Parker & Hale 375 H&H Safari. Extractor broke, and no parts anywhere for that brand. Good thing the guide had a spare rifle he could use or it would have wasted very valuable hunting time to find another rifle.
