Do any of you guys use a portable chair while you are scaling the mountains? If so what are the best ones? Thanks in advance.

The best I have seen is cutting a portion of a foam sleeping pad. There is also other options from thermarest etc

I have used several,, a chair is my guilty pleasure, I can't get up and down like I once could so I like a chair with a back and I have packed this roll-a-chair a lot of miles. You can see the thermarest chairs in this photo as well.

I use 3 sections cut off a thermarest Z-lite mat a lot too.

My wife likes her little REI chair,, the legs like to sink into the soft ground.

Roll-a-stool is 14 OZs for the small one.

I love those thermarest chairs, besides the backrest having the short prolite pad along is a huge bonus if you end up bivying out unexpectedly. I have slept on mine approx 10 nights in the last two years, and it is awesome to get your torso off the ground to stay warm. Only downside I can see is if you plan to sit by a fire, I got a pinhole in mine last season and then of course it wouldn't hold air. Patched it right up with AquaSeal UV and it worked fine again (thanks Mr Steve!)

I use a cut up Thermarest foam pad. Rolls up small and weighs almost nothing. Best option out the I think

Well I usually just sit on the ground or a log. But last year I noticed myself constantly sitting in my buddies REI camp chair. Even though I hate to addd extra weight, I broke down and bought one to try this year. It's kinda of nice to actually be able to sit in a decent chair in the backcountry.

I tried several since I sometimes still hunt water or call predators and wanted a light chair that was taller than a turkey style chair (which are too low to draw a bow with) and I ended up with a Helinox. Love it. 2lbs but it's comfortable, easy and quick to set up (15-20 seconds). My back forces certain luxuries on me now.

I bought my walkstool from the outdoorsman. It is definitely worth the weight penalty.

Every outing I think of how nice one would be (beyond a the wallmart foam). I just picked up a Big Agnes Cyclone chair for the home camp, but have yet to test it.
