In leiu of high-end Crispi and similar, does anyone have an experience with Vasque boots and their wearability/durability?

They were pretty decent boots when I started backpacking... A long time ago.

Thanks

I'm still wearing my Vasque Skywalks from 1997. Had them resoled 3 times and are still one of my favorite boots to wear. Disclaimer - the Skywalks I have were when Vasque boots were made in Italy. I do not have any experience with the new ones made in China.

I think the pair I had were Italy too, 1988 or so.

If you are looking for a solid boot and do not need a lot of ankle support the La Sportiva Trango GTX is a good boot for a reasonable price

My personal favorite boots for the last decade or so are some Boreal all leather Bulnes mountaineering boots ( found them used on a mountain shop shoe rack for $80 ) for the colder season in the high rocky country and the Salewa Rapace. "Custom Fit ". "Orthotics". Nah. I have an average dimension foot and have never found the need for the super expensive custom stuff. If a boot fits me and is gonna work I'll usually know when I try it on . Just my opinion and personal experience. If you too have no foot problems or abnormal shape then you should be able to find some sweet boots in the Vasque price range whether they are Vasque or not.

I have an older pair of Vasque but I have a wide foot and prefer my Asolo's over them by a large margin. Nothing wrong with the Vasque boot just a bit narrow and the Asolo's fit my foot a lot better. I wear the Vasque for evening walks down the road but that is about it.

I have a wide foot too so that is great feedback for me.
