Backcountry fishing rod

As for a light action spinning reel, I've been running a Fenwick Eagle GT2 4-piece, 7-ft, light action rod for about 6 years. I have caught everything from bluegill to bonita (little tunnies) to 6lbs on it and it's still running like a champ

I think I found it it's got great reviews looks like that might be the one for 70 bucks looks like a sweet setup for sure thanks again.

I'd recommend taking a serious look at Tenkara. Gotta love the KISS approach to this method. I've been very happy with my set up. Tenkara Rod Co., Tenkara USA and Dragontail Tenkara are good companies.

Tenkara really is the answer for lightweight backcountry fishing. I have both traditional rods and Tenkara rods. While I generally take traditional gear if my purpose is primarily fishing, I always take Tenkara if I'm hunting and want to bring a lightweight fishing rig. The rod and line weigh less than 4 ounces, and pack down very small. All the rest of the fishing gear you need weighs less than 8 ounces. (see this link for a lightweight fishing pouch set up.) You're fully kitted out for under 12 ounces. Another advantage is that Tenkara is easier than traditional fly fishing because you don't need to worry about managing the reel and line. Just cast. Beginning fly fishers can get the hang of it in very little time.
