I have an Alps Commander external frame pack that I've used for general backpacking trips on east coast and backpack rifle in NY catskills....
I know, not a high end brand. Looking to hunt muzzleloader elk in Colorado this fall. If I've lugged 100lb loads already and had no trouble how will my experience go out there?

Guess it depends on what type of hunting you plan on doing? I have a K4 and it’s awesome, an investment for sure. But if you’re truck hunting I’m sure you will be fine with what you got

We plan on backpacking... I will be taking training hikes/whitetail scouting here in PA and loading the pack up to really test it on the heavy end

I’m sure it would be “doable” but Colorado has some nasty country. Having a comfortable pack when loaded is a game changer. Especially if you’re flying across the country to hunt. You wouldn’t want to ruin a hunt by having a uncomfortable pack

load it up similar to how you would be hunting and take some rucks in the hills. If its comfortably handling your hunting items for long hikes it should work out. Better to find out now rather than in the mountains if isn't working for you
